Primary Ballet (Age 5-7)

Cecchetti Classical Ballet has a rich heritage, offering a clear and logical pathway of technical progression paired with inherent musicality and a unique sense of style. The Cecchetti Method and its principles have played a formative role in the training of many of the world’s greatest ballet dancers, choreographers, and directors.

In Cecchetti Primary Ballet, children aged 5-7 have the option to take an exam and enter in groups of 3-4 with their class teacher. Exams are not compulsory, and many children choose to simply move up to the next level. However, we like to offer the option of ballet exams to those pupils who are keen to focus on perfecting the syllabus.

We believe studying towards exams is beneficial for young dancers as it encourages them to practice and perfect their steps, working towards a clear goal. Ballet promotes self-discipline and self-expression, developing listening skills, following instructions, and learning to work both individually and in groups. It enhances coordination, good posture, strength, and suppleness. Additionally, ballet provides a nurturing environment for developing artistry and musical appreciation.

Students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and progress by performing in our annual show at the Parr Hall. This event is a highlight of the year, allowing students to experience the thrill and joy of performing on stage in front of an audience.
